The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced significant new challenges to students, but also provided an opportunity for them to express their resilience.  In this workshop, Dr. Ozawa-de Silva, Ms. Knox and members of the Woodward Faculty will examine generalized results of the Student Resilience Survey for the purpose of building awareness of Woodward Academy’s strengths and areas of growth from the student perspective.  The Student Resilience Survey created by Authentic Connections and administered to Woodward Upper School Students during April, 2020 illuminates the student response to COVID-19 and the remote learning experience. A summary of the data collected from the survey will serve to guide participants to consider ways to support and build structures of engagement to support a culture of resilience during pre-planning. The facilitators will introduce stand alone resources taken from Emory University’s SEE Learning program that are designed for use in the classroom or remote learning settings.  The cultivation of skills; and personal and group practices of self-regulation, self-compassion, empathy, compassion and systems thinking will be emphasized.
